Nascar track review: The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is an intermediate i.e. 1.5 mile long Nascar track that is expanded from its original design as a drag racing track. Although the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was completed in 1996, major renovations were made to it in 2007. The track seats 142 thousand people, and has an extended grand stand front stretch which is about 19% longer than the back stretch in terms of total track length. Stands at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway face North-East to South-East depending on where one is seated and which direction on the track one is looking at. In light of this, racing events later in the afternoon are less likely to pose a visual problem in the non-shaded stands. Pricing varies considerably between events; for example, United States Auto Club (USAC) Midgets racing may be as cheap as $10 per seat whereas attendance at the Nascar weekend may cost in the hundreds of dollars if not more depending on the number of guests. PROS OF THE LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Several advantages and disadvantages are present at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Of these a prevalent advantage is the multiple vehicle racing and entertainment venues at the speedway. Other race tracks at the speedway include 1) the Bullring track, 2) the Dragstrip,3) the Motocross track and 4) the Go-Kart track, all of which also face Eastward and feature local, drag, and roadster racing. This adds to the overall excitement and entertainment especially to fans of high powered engines and/or fast moving vehicles in competition. The ‘Neon garage’ is another interesting feature of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway because it offers a unique perspective for fans and visitors that isn’t always available at other Nascar venues. To fully experience the Neon garage one has to actually see it. The Neon garage allows fans a closer appreciation of the drivers and their teams in addition to entertainment when the races are over or haven’t started yet. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway also offers nearby lodging and travel and tour packages that may be ideal for out of town Nascar fans or those seeking to remain near the tracks overnight. The Speedway also allows on site Recreational Vehicles to camp at the Speedway and infield at the Speedway. Camping at the speedway is a good way to avoid traffic and make the most of weekend events and venues.
